Section 3: MAPPING

Mapping starts with U-V projection.
Spherical U-V can make radial detail.
Cylindrical U-V may need rotating to sit right.
Bump Maps add texture, but not Geometry
Experiment with # of U-V repeats.
Seamless repeating maps of panels, grime, color, and fire.
A color map can double as a Bump map.
Custom libraries (.mlb's) can save favorites.

Color maps can have see thru areas. (alpha channel) The image utilities can convert non- alpha JPG's to 32bit .TXRs . The libraries save the U-v repeats, bump map info, and your custom names . Don't move the original JPG file after mapping or saving into the .MLB.

To custom map an object, render it flat, Bring image into paint program, layout your bump detail, layer up to your color map, and carve image up into new maps to fit your U-V projection.
