ART BACKGROUND
After High School (1980) I went to Mesa College in San Diego and took Plastics Technology courses to increase my Modeling skills. I also bought an Airbrush and painted Space-scapes on Lucite and sold them at Convention Art Shows. My employment at an Architectural Model firm taught me Detail skills, scaling, flocking, Landscaping, Airbrush, paint gun, Foam shaping, and Oak woodworking. I try to take one course per semester in something I'm really interested in.
Since graduating High School I've taken courses in:
- Plastics technology
- Filmmaking and video production
- Photographic Composition and Airbrush Rendering
- Egyptian History and Business Law
- 3-D Sculpture and Design (Clay, wire, and wood.)
- PhotoShop and Macintosh Basics (Claris works, Page maker, general layout)
- Corel Draw Desktop Publishing and Web Design and Internet Basics
I've recently produced Acrylic sculpture Awards for the San Diego Comic-Con Masquerade over the last 3 shows. My 3-d renderings with Truespace are improving and I may try some abstract animations for Computer Video compilations. ( Minds-Eye type productions)
My demo Reel is available. Contact me through My E-mail.
FILM-MAKING AND VIDEO
Since Junior High (1976), I've been interested in Film special effects. From hours of Super-8, to some 16mm, and on to video, My friends and I shot miles of footage.
- Claymation, object and jointed doll animations,
- Mr Bill shows, Complete live action shorts, Documentaries,
- FX experiments with Backwinding,
- Miniature explosions, Introvision and Beam splitter effects,
- Forced perspective and foreground miniatures, Space ship model shots,
- Animated chess, Title animation, Squib and blood packet gunshots,
- And homemade animation stand sequences.
All this was just done for fun, and to see if we could do them. I've worked on many friends films, and UCSD student films just by hanging around and showing up. As technical set-up Director for the San Diego Comic-con, I arranged and directed (6) Masquerade 3-camera shoots; editing and generating titles for the 1 1/2 hour programs. My strong skills are in camera work, editing, special rigs and Foley. My construction skills are handy for mock-ups, set pieces, props, models, and camera rigs. I specialize in quick fixes, (bondo, spackle, airbrush or spray paint) and Mold Making.
